This is the beginning of a new philosophical project, what has been dubbed HERMENEUTINKS or
BEING-HISTORICAL-INKING; the philosophical hermeneutic of tattoos. The goal of this project is to create an outlet for new modes of philosophical expression and discourse. We hope to compile an anthology of tattoos directly inspired by works of Western Philosophy, to be featured alongside their textual inspiration, as well as biographical information from the bearer (education, employment, etc). While your kanji or sanskrit tattoos may be representative of significant eastern philosophic trends, they are not what we are looking for, neither are your religious tattoos, that is unless they are directly associated with a prominent philosophical figure in the Western tradition (Euro/Phallocentric bias duly noted). This is a serious endeavor by, and for, professional philosophers and students of philosophy.
